Students who anticipate graduating at the end of fall 2016, spring 2017, summer 2017 and fall 2017 may participate in the May 2017 UGIS Commencement Ceremony. Media Studies majors interested in participating in this ceremony should watch for information about signing up to participate and additional instructions in the Media Studies weekly newsletters in the spring. See the UGIS Commencement web site for more information.

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY CAMPUSWIDE CEREMONIES

The University holds campuswide ceremonies in the fall and spring to celebrate graduating students. For dates and details regarding these two special events, visit https://commencement.berkeley.edu/.

Students may participate in the UGIS Commencement Ceremony and a campuswide ceremony if they choose.

GRADUATION

Students must declare their candidacy for graduation in the semester in which they plan to complete all their degree requirements. They may do this during the preceding Tele-Bears period or during the last semester by completing an "Add to the Degree List" petition and submitting it to the Letters and Science Office of Undergraduate Advising at 206 Evans Hall. Students MUST put themselves "on the degree list" in order to officially graduate. See Graduation.

DIPLOMA

Diplomas are mailed to all graduates several months after the degrees have been posted to transcripts. Degrees are approved and posted to transcripts approximately 2.5 months after the end of the term. See Graduation on the Letters and Science Office of Undergraduate Advising website and Diplomas & Graduation on the Office of the Registrar website.
