Kaylee Williams is a Ph.D. candidate at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, studying technology-facilitated gender-based violence, with a particular emphasis on AI and image-based sexual abuse. She has served as a research consultant to a variety of organizations advancing press freedom and gender equality all over the world, including the Information Integrity Initiative, the International Center for Journalists, and UN Women. Before her doctoral studies, she was a research fellow at Harvard University’s Shorenstein Center for Media, Politics & Public Policy, where she investigated coordinated disinformation and cyberharassment campaigns. She holds a master of arts in political science from Columbia University.
Research Interests: digital harm, tech accountability and governance, AI ethics and safety, synthetic media, information integrity, online gender-based violence, gender and media studies, democratic resilience, and press freedom
