Laura Demir is a Student Academic Advisor for the Media Studies program and advises intended and declared students in the major.
Laura advises students in-person and remotely via appointment, drop-in advising, and email.

*2024-25 Winter Break Update*
Over the winter break, note that advising availability will be limited. Between Monday, December 23rd thru Wednesday, January 1st, many UC Berkeley staff will be out of office in observance of the holidays and possibly on vacation. I will be available via email beginning Monday, January 6th but advising appointments and drop-in advising will be postponed until Monday, January 13th.

Winter Break Advising
- December 23 thru January 3: Out of Office
- January 6 thru January 10: Available by email only. No appointments or drop-in.
- January 13 thru 17: Appointments and drop-in advising resume, but remote only. All advising will be held over Zoom. See Spring 2025 Advising Schedule below for times.
- January 21: In-person advising will resume. See Spring 2025 Advising Schedule below for times. This is also the first day of classes for Spring 2025.

Scheduled Appointments
Scheduled appointments are one-on-one sessions to talk about things like the Media Studies major, program planning, adding majors and minors, enrichment opportunities, and other topics that require more time.
Students can book one week in advance of appointment. Since appointments are on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, new appointments for the next week should appear on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Drop-in Advising*
Drop-In Advising is a great way to meet with advisors when you have a time-sensitive question or one to a few quick questions. During in-person drop-in, students will arrive at 295 Evans Hall and meet with me in the order they arrive. To access remote drop-in, please follow the links below to visit my Drop-in Advising Zoom Room. Note that the Zoom meeting room will only be open during the hours listed. Upon entering, students will be placed in a waiting room and allowed into the meeting room in the order that they enter. Have your Student ID# and questions ready!
