  • Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday In-Person Drop-in Office Hours: 1:00-2:30 PM @ 270 Evans – Drop-in (no appointment necessary)
  • Friday Zoom Office Hours Appointments: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM, by appointment only.

 

Appointments may be made here.  Please make only one appointment at a time to ensure availability for other interested students.  Please do your best to attend appointments you make.  If you need to cancel an appointment, please do so as early as possible so that other students may make an appointment in a timely manner.  Canceling at the last minute often means that time slot will go unused.

Matthew Berry earned his Ph.D in History at UC Berkeley.  His dissertation, an intellectual biography focusing on the “grandfather“ of modern Vietnam, is titled Confucian Terrorism: Phan Bội Châu and the Imagining of Modern Vietnam. 

Research Interests: the shaping and use of history for political ends, extremist ideologies, nationalism, and modernization/globalization theory.
